Sushi for Kiddos

My girl 6 years old loves sushi. I prepared for her lunch with stuffing omelet, boil carrot and zucchine. I did not have sushi rice. I had only sticky rice and basmati rice. So, I mixed them to be sushi rice, because from sticky rice has glue to attack basmati. The sushi can bring to school as lunch box for kids.

Nian Gao

Chinese New Year does not complete without Nian Gao (Indonesia : Kue Keranjang / Basket Cake). We call basket cake, because when steamed they use small basket as mould.

Chicken Champignon Cap Cay (Triple C)

If we bought the champignon mushrooms, My husband always request cap cay. Cap cay is the chinese food. So familiar in Indonesia. Ingredients of cap cay are many kind vegetables. In my cap cay, added carrot, turnip, green cabbage, white cabbage, champignon and ear mushrooms with chicken. So yummy. Without rice only cap cay, our dinner is yummy.

Char Cay Kwee Stuffed Stir Fried Finochio

I ever twice posted about cay kwee with different recipes. This time, I am posting cay kwee with different ways how to cook.
Actually, cay kwee is cooked with steaming, and this time, I fried the cay kwee.
For the stuffing, actually with stir fried of jicama. But here, where can we find jicama. So, I changed with finochio. Because I thought that finochio is little bit sweet as like jicama.

Cay Kwee 2 / Choi Pan


How many months ago, I ever made cay kwee or choi pan, and today I make another cay kwee wth different recipe, I have tried with mung dhal flour, wheat flour and tapioca starch. What result, like what I wish. Elastic and soft. I feel satisfied.

Sushi Baling Baling / Propeller Sushi

It is my creation sushi for my kids.  I made propeller sushi with stir fried of grated carrot and shredded salmon. Need 2 small shusi and another sheet of nori. I don't used sushi rice, but broken basmati rice.

Simple Chicken Sausage Sushi

I am learning how to roll sushi. I start with simple stuffing and my kids love it. They love chicken sausage. Incidentally, I find chicken sausage "Halal" in supermarket. My simple chicken sausage sushi is ready now, with simple recipe too.

I make it for our Wedding Anniversary 9th. 3 times I made it, but always failure, but this time I am success to make it, how happy  My husband love it so much the Japanese Cotton Cheesecake with the soft and smooth texture. Happy Annyversary my dear hubby.

One of Chinese Steamded Dumpling. So familiar in my hometown. Made of rice flour, tapioca starch. To make the dumpling with steaming system. Eating with sprinkling of fried garlic with oil and sour chili sauce.

Prawns Stir Fried Broccoli Hongkong

I have much broccoli in my freezer. Confuse what I cook with this broccoli. I got a recipe stir fried broccoli, easy and all of ingredients what I need complete in my kitchen. So for dinner, I cooked Prawns Stir Fried Broccoli Hongkong Style. Original recipe without prawns, but I added prawns for aroma and sweet seafood.

Nian Gao Black Glutinous Flour

Nian Gao is the glutinous cake for Chinese New Year. I love it, in Indonesia we call Kue Keranjang (Basket Cake), because they use small bamboo basket as baking pan. I adopted recipe from Ken Goh. Original ingredient of Nian Gao is White Glutinous Flour. Now, I do variation with Black Glutinous Flour.

Special Fried Cap Cay

Capcay, Hokkien dialect means a variety of vegetables.Capcay is a dish with variety of vegetables typical of the Chinese community that very popular. Usually vegetables are cooked to capcay such chicory, mustard greens, carrots, baby corn, champignon mushroom, oyster mushrooms, cauliflower, peas, beans, cabbage, broccoli. You can add slices of meatm meatballs, prawns, squids, quail eggs, chicken, ... etc.

Bakpao Red Bean Paste

Bakpao is chinese steamed buns. So familiar in my hometown, and like ours. In Pontianak (West Kalimantan - Indonesia) has bakpao (baozi) with many kind filling such as mung bean paste, caramelized brown sugar and coconut, coconut red sugar, chicken curry or vegetables curry, and red bean paste. Now, I made bakpao with filling red bean paste.

Gyoza - Japanese

Gyoza is one of cuisine from Japan. It is like dumpling with boiled and cooked until water dries up and thick as sauce and bottom golden brown. So juicy.
