Indonesia is rich culture. One of our culture make rice cone (nasi tumpeng). Tumpeng is a rice dish with main ingredients that made conical and resemble the shape of a montain. Then underneath placed many kind of side dishes and variety of decoration to make it look attractive.
Conical yellow rice is symbolizes prosperity, wealth, abundance or fortune. And made for special event, like a birthday, the birth of a baby, finish college or graduation, get a job, etc.
Yellow rice cone at the bottom, there is many side dishes such as vegetables, meat, eggs, fish, etc.
- 1 ltr / 800 grs rice.
- 1 1/2 lt coconut milk.
- 1/2 tbsp ground turmeric.
- 50 mls water.
- 2 pandan leaves.
- 2 bay leaves.
- 1 stalk lemograss.
- 1 tbsp salt.
- 1 tbsp juice lime.
Instruction :
- Mix ground turmeric and water until mix well.
- Mix coconut milk, turmeric has been mixed water, pandan leaves, bay leaves, lemongrass and salt, boil until boiled.
- Cook rice with coconut milk until coconut milk is absorbed to rice.
- Pour juice lime and mix well.
- Steam rice until cooked.
- Served rice with a conical shape on the big plate.
- Beside rice cone, put many kind side dishes.
