Stewed Chicken Soy Sauce (Semur)

My kids love semur (stewed Chicken Soy Sauce). I am proud of them, because they love Indonesia foods. Within a week, there is a day I have to cook for them the semur with rice. If not, they will complain me, have long time we don't eat semur. Beside semur, they love Boiled The Mackarel Fish. I will share the recipe later. Today about chicken semur.


Ingredients :
  • 1 broiler chicken, remove skin and cut 16 pieces.
  • Salt as needed.
  • Lime / lemon juice as needed.
  • 1/2 sdt ground turmeric.
  • 1 medium size onion, thinly chopped.
  • 1 tbsp garlic and ginger paste.
  • 3 hazelnuts.
  • 1 tsp ground coriander.
  • 1 tsp ground cumin.
  • 2 bay leaves.
  • 4 cm cinnamon.
  • 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce.
  • 1 large potato, cut 12.
  • Vegetable oil for sauteing.
  • 2 bird eyes chilies.
  • 500 ml water.
Instruction :
  1. Washed the chicken, marinated with ground turmeric, salt and lime / lemon juice.
  2. Pulse the onion, garlic and hazelnut until smooth.
  3. Fry chicken for a while until the skin hardens and brownish.
  4. Stir fry spices mix, coriander, cumin, bay leaves, cinnamon and bird eyes chilies until fragrant.
  5. Add chicken and sweet soy sauce, stir until combine evenly with spices. Pour water and cook until water boiled and thick.
  6. Add potato and boiled until potato soft and water dries up.
  7. Ready to be served as set a side.
