Chicken Nehari

Nehari is Bangladesh / India / Pakistan food. Cooked with mutton / beef / chicken. Today, I cooked Nehari with chicken, because I have stock only chicken in my freezer. Actually, Nehari match to eat with Flatbread (Rooti, Paratha or Naan) on the morning for breakfast. By the name Nehari, from Arabic Language is Nahaar means early morning. Now, enjoy your morning.

Ingredients Nehari Spices :
  • 2 tsp red dry chili flakes.
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds.
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper.
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds.
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds.
  • 2 cloves.
  • 2 cardamoms.
  • 3 cm cinnamon.
  • 1 star anise flower.
  • 1 bay leaf.
  • 1 tsp red chili powder.
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg.
  • 1 tsp kasmiri chili powder.
  • 1 tsp garam masala.
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric.
Ingredients of Chicken Nehari :
  • 2 tbsp Nehari Spices.
  • 1 whole chicken, skin removed.
  • 5 tbsp vegetable oil / ghee or mixed.
  • 1 large size onion, finely chopped.
  • 1 tsp salt.
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ginger and garlic paste.
  • 1 glass of water.
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour.
Instruction :
  1. Roasted Nehari Spices onto non stick fry pan for a few minutes over low flame until spices are fragrant, no burn. Grind them.
  2. Heat oil in the pan and add the chicken and stir until chicken is discolored. 
  3. Add grind nehari spices, and stir until combine evenly. 
  4. Add onion, ginger and garlic paste and stir until combine evenly. 
  5. When the water of chicken is runs out, pour water and salt  stir until combine evenly.
  6. Dissolve flour well in a cup of water and add gradually into the gravy. Stir until combine evenly.
  7. Cooked until mature with low flame.
  8. Give garnishing as you like such ginger slices, chopped green coriander, green chilies and fresh lemon.
  9. You can eat with warm rooti, naan or paratha.
