Rainbow Wedhang Ronde

The beverage is originally from Central Java with typical of filling is teng teng nuts (crush of nuts). Wedhang Ronde is very populare in Solo, Jogja, Semarang and other area in Java with their own particularities.  Wedhang means beverages, ronde is special the dough  with shape little balls made of glutinous flour with filling the crushed nuts. When chewed, taste a little soft and chewy. How to make beverages at once the snack isn't difficult. The beverage is perfect for cold areas or when night and rain.

Ingredients :
  • 2 cups glutinous flour.
  • 1 tbsp of tapioca starch.
  • 1/4 tsp salt.
  • Lukewarm water is required.
  • Food color : red, yellow, green and blue.
Ingredients of Filling :
  • 100 grs nuts such ast peanut, cashew nut, almond, and pistahio, roasted and mashed.
  • 75 grs sugar.
Ingredients of Sauce :
  • 5 cups water.
  • 1 cup brown sugar.
  • 4 cm ginger, sliced 1 cm.
  • 2 stalks lemongrass, crushed.
  • 1 pandan leaf, cut 2 parts and bind.
  • 2 lime leaves.
Instruction :
  1. Mix glutinous flour, tapioca starch, salt, and lukewarm water, knead until no sticky.
  2. Devide the dough for 4 colors : red, yellow, green and blue.
  3. Every color, devide for 7 small balls.
  4. Mix peanut and sugar. Take one ball and flatten, put peanut filling. Do it until the dough finish.
  5. Simmer water until boiled, and put all of balls after gave filling and boil until the balls float.
  6. Simmer water with another sauce pan to make brown sugar sauce.
  7. Put all of ingredients and simmer until boiled.
  8. Put 4 balls into small bowl and pour soup. Sprinkle mashed of nuts.
  9. Ready to be served hot.
