Casavas Gratin with Brown Sugar Sauce

Casavas is our traditional food (Indonesia traditional food). We can make with many kinds of dishes. Now I make casavas gratin with brown sugar sauce and sprinkle with coconut grated.

Ingredients :
  • 500 gr casavas, peeled and roughly shredded.
  • A pinch of salt.
  • Coconut shredded.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar.
  • 1 tbsp sugar.
  • 250 ml water.
  • 1 sheet of pandan leaf.
Instruction :
  1. Prepare Brown Sugar Sauce : Simmer in small sauce pan water, brown sugar, sugar and pandan leaf until sugar melt and water boil. Set aside.
  2. Shredded casavas, then place into bowl and sprinkle with a pinch of salt and stir until combine evenly.
  3. Devide the shredded casavas  and give color as you like.
  4. Boil steaming pan and give the base with banana leaf or plastic heat resistant and steam the shredded casavas for 15 minutes or until mature. Set aside.
  5. Put the coconut shredded into bowl and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Steam for 10 mintes so that the coconut is not quickl change the taste / stale.
Instruction to serve :
  1. Placed the casavasa shredded into serving palte or bowl, then pour brown sugar sauce and sprinkle with coconut shredded.
  2. Ready to be served.
