Black and White Triangle Sticky Rice Cake Brown Sugar Sauce

Lupis (triangle sticky rice cake) is commonly with white sticky rice. But yesterday, I made both them. What is different between white and black sticky rice ? White sticky rice is chewy and black sticky rice is bit crisp and fragrant.
I ever posted how to make lupis with white sticky rice, click here. Now only black sticky rice, I will posted.

Ingredients :
  • 250 gr black sticky rice, soaked 30 minutes into water and washed. Then drianed.
  • Water is required.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1 pandan leaf, cut two part and binded.
  • Banana leaf shaped triangle as mould of lupis.
  • Grated coconut as needed, mixed with salt and steamed 10 minutes.
  • Brown sugar sauce (100 gr brown sugar + 50 gr sugar + 400 ml water).
  • 2 lt water to boil lupis.
Instruction :
  1. Cooked black sticky rice with pandan leaf, salt and water until half well done and water dries up. Stir occasionally and no burn. Turn off heat.
  2. Shaped the banana leaf as triangle for mould of lupis and stabbed with toothpick or coconut stick.
  3. Take a tablespoon of boil sticky rice, and put into banana leaf triangle. Coated with banana leaf and stabbed with toothpick to be triangle. Do until finish.
  4. Simmers water, put lupis and boil for 30 minutes and drained.
  5. Mix grated coconut and salt, steam for 15 minutes. So that no quick stale.
  6. After lupis well done, let cool in room temperature. Open the banana leaf and coated with grated coconut surface of lupis. Because if we put in plastic container they do not stick to each other.
  7. Served lupis with brown sugar sauce and grated coconut.
Instuction to prepare brown sugar sauce :
  1. Boiled brown sugar, sugar and water until melt and thick.
  2. Let cool and ready to use.
