Fried Tofu Stuffed Vegetables


We eat them (fried tofu) for afternoon when tea time as snack. It is Indonesian's snack. Our favo is like risoles, spring roll, etc. How to make, you must have stock yellow tofu (fried tofu). Because white tofu will break if you halved and try to stuff. If you have white tofu, you have to fry before stuff with stuffing.


Ingredients :
  • 6 yellow tofu, cut triangle.
  • 1 medium size carrot, grated.
  • 50 gr green cabbage, thin strips.
  • 1/2 zucchine, grated.
  • 1 small size potato, grated.
  • 50 gr sprout. (I skip, because don't have stock)
  • 1/2 tsp salt or seasoning.
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for sauteing.
  • 1/2 medium size onion, roughly chopped.
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped.
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper.
  • 1 lt vegetable oil for deep frying.
Ingredients to coat tofu :
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour.
  • 2 tsp rice flour.
  • Water as needed.
  • A pinch of salt.


Instruction :
  1. Preheat oil for sauteing, add onion, garlic, ground black pepper, and salt/seasoning until fragrant.
  2. Add vegetable such carrot, green cabbage, zucchine, potato and sprout, stir until wilted. Set aside and wait until cool in room temperature.
  3. Take tofu after cut triangle and cut portion of tofu (white) is not pierce the skin. And stuffed with vegetables has been sauteed. Do it until tofu and vegetable finish.
  4. Preheat oil for deep frying. Mix flour, rice flour and salt, pour water gradually and stirring constantly until to achieve the desired consistency.
  5. Dip tofu has been stuffed vegetable into into the mixture of flour and fry until golden brown.
  6. Transfer to serving plate and ready to be served with hot chili sauce or green cayenne peppers.
